Last assignment

Thank you all for the 23 things program, it was educational and fun!!!

It would be a great service to Allegheny County Libraries if ACLA could keep the 23things blog up and use it to keep all of us updated on the "latest & greatest" technology. As something new comes to someones attention we could add it to the blog and let everyone know about it. Then if anyone knows anything about it they can add info. (or check U Tube for instructional videos) and post that along. Truly "Continuing Education" for the libraries.

I subscribe to the weekly newsletter Internet Tourbus. They are always talking about new things and the problems that have been "solved" on older things. Here is the url: http://internettourbus.com/ I hope you explore this site, it has up-to-date good information on software, gadgets, hardware and just plain neat stuff.
Once again, I loved the 23 things and would like to see it become a "continuing" practice.
Thank you,

Podcasts and streaming videos, week 11 -- Cool Beans!

I have added the podcast widget for Birds & Nature to the side-bar on this blog.

Have a listen, he is very interesting and his phone-in callers are wild...
Have you noticed how few lightning bugs (fireflies) there are now? How about Bald & Golden eagles in the Pittsburgh area? How are the bird counts going? And ... what's up on the moon and stars that are in our sky right now? Dr Scott has covered all of these in just this past summer... along with poisonous caterpillars (yech, give me a good old honest black snake any day.)

Enjoy

23 things week 879

I have been playing with Mozilla on my home computer where I can add and delete all sorts of "tabs." I am very much in love with the "clip" (cutting selected text then saving it, or whatever.)
The rest of it is fine, but I don't have to think with the good old Explorer and right at the moment speed is the name of the game. Once I play with Mozilla more I will be able to judge it better.
Clusty (my favorite re-search engine) works beautifully in both, so .... for now I stay with Explorer but am looking forward to vacation time and playing more with Mozilla. (Sounds obscene doesn't it!)
I am ready for it -- What is next ...???

Here is one of my all time favorite authors -- Not one of the greats that will live forever, just one of the funniest men that ever grew-up on a farm/suburbs. His book "They shoot canoes don't they" is one of the funniest I have ever read, but then "Skunk Ladders" is also great, and so is "Camping from aaauugh to zzzzzd" Some of the best set of words put to paper is his "First deer" vignette. Unfortunately or fortunately I do know all of his "buddies", Stretch Sweeney, Rancid Crabtree, The Troll, etc. and Strange ... Oh, if you ever need a pick me up read one of his books.... But NOT at night -- You will wake up your family laughing in your dreams!!
